Kristoffer Lo - the Black Meat

Project type

Solo Album

Date

February 2016

Imagine a towering 22-meter lighthouse filled with amplifiers and microphones, where Kristoffer Lo, one of Norway's most adventurous musicians, alternates between tuba and flugabone. His sounds are processed through extensive effects, transforming the lighthouse into an amplifier and echo chamber, especially during a storm. This might seem chaotic, but Lo's work is meticulously composed. Influences from Deathprod and Biosphere are evident, with melancholic and intricate melodies building in intensity.

The deep bass drones resonate within the lighthouse's walls, creating a unique auditory experience that culminates in a powerful, half-hour finale. Lo's "The Black Meat" album blends raw metallic sounds with personal introspection, achieving a balance between beauty and orchestral depth, and dark, noisy undertones. This album, both musically satisfying and conceptually intriguing, showcases Lo's distinctive signature developed over numerous albums and collaborations. "The Black Meat" stands out as an irresistible and masterfully executed work.
